New Trailer of the Day: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (US version)

I read this book, but I haven't read the next two. I haven't seen the Norweigian movies based on the books either, but I believe this looks much better due to the directing and acting power. Daniel Craig was a adequate choice for the journalist, but Stellan Skarsgard is perfect for his evil role. I can't wait to see this, so you can probably tell where I will be this Christmas.

Sunset Boulevard Review

Sunset Boulevard is the story of Hollywood screenwriter Joe (William Holden) and the fall of silent-film actress Norma Desmond (Gloria Swanson). This movie is known as the greatest movie about Hollywood, and deserves it. Norma is a rich actress left alone after sound dominated the movie industry. It shows how enveloped stars can be into their lives. This is very true, because after sound could be in movies, many of the silent-film era stars were left out of work. Norma had dreams of conquering the screen once again, and would become obsessed with that dream. Joe is stuck in the middle of all of this mess when he stumbles on Norma's huge mansion to get away from repo men. He does a good job, but Gloria Swanson shows us one of the greatest performances of all time which should have earned her an Oscar that year. The number one scariest thing about this movie is that it showed the true horror of the film industry, which was sugar-coated in many movies before this one. It's a true classic and I give it a 3.5/5.

The Greatest Game Ever Played Review

It is very hard for me to say I have grown up in the presence of truly great movies. Sure there is No Country for Old Men and epics like Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, and The Harry Potter Series. But this movie is the most underrated of them all. People saw this movie as a simple conventional Disney fairy tale. The Greatest Game Ever Played shows so much more than that. And it is also quite the unconventional movie also. Its shots and sequences are very different from other sports movies, showing how the golfers thought and felt throughout the tournament. Also it shows the other golfer that the main character must face as not the bad guy at all. The bad guy in this movie is society in general. Society is portrayed as bigotry to the poor on the British and American side, the putting down of by the father, and how others can be so wrapped up in themselves and not in each other. The "rival" golfer that Francis Ouimet (Shia Lebouf) must play against is the legendary Harry Vardon (Stephen Dillane). I believe Stephen Dillane should have been nominated for BSA in 2003. Vardon back than was bigger than Tiger Woods. The sport of Golf wasn't as big as it is today, but among its admirers Vardon was treated almost as a deity. He treated Ouimet with dignity and sympathy. I love this movie, and I give it 4/5 stars.

Thor Review

Thor was a visual masterpiece. The CGI was even better than Avatar! It is of course about the Norse God of Thunder, and contains many references to other Avenger characters such as Hawkeye and Nick Fury. I thought it was better than all of the other Avenger movies such as Iron Man 1 and 2 and the Incredible Hulk. It contained many stars such as Stellan Skarsgard, Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins, and Idris Elba. Thor was also directed by none other than Kenneth Branagh, who did an amazing job. It was a great movie, and I look forward to his next appearance in The Avengers. I give it a 3/5.
