Born on the Fourth of July Review

Born on the Fourth of July: This movie was nominated for 8 Oscars including Best Picture, Best Actor (Tom Cruise), and winning Oliver Stone's second Best Director Oscar (1st was for Platoon). This is known as his second of his trilogy about the Vietnam War. I myself am not a huge fan of Oliver Stone, but this movie was the best of his that I have seen yet only comparing to Wall Street. I have not seen a whole lot of his other big movies such as JFK, Midnight Express, and Any Given Sunday. This is pretty good compared to what I have seen by him. It is the story of protester Ron Kovic, a Vietnam vet turned anti-war activist. The riot scenes were very well-executed and the movie theme was great but overplayed. The movie was a bit longer than it could have been but Tom Cruise gave a good performance as Kovic which kept you interested. I give it 2.5/5 stars.
