Black Swan Review

Black Swan Review

Black Swan is a very gripping and provocative mind-blowing thriller. Natalie Portman gives one of the greatest acting performances by an actress of all time. She plays Nina Sayers, a ballet dancer obsessed with perfection and with agonizing pressure from her former dancing mother. Her mother was a ballet dancer, but got pregnant from her dance instructor and now invests her entire life into her daughter’s career. 2010 was one year for psychological movies such as Inception and Shutter Island. This movie directed by Darren Aronofsky (Requiem for a Dream, Pi, The Wrestler), who’s vivid and graphic directing is the most worthy of an Oscar. The movie shows her transformation into the dark Black Swan in the ballet Swan Lake. She starts out as an innocent girl and turns into something she could never imagine. At first, I had no desire to see it because of it being about ballet, but now I believe it to be the best movie of 2010 and my favorite for Best Picture. I give it 4/5 stars.
